Les Fontenelles is an old farmhouse situated in the Dordogne department of France on the border between the departments of Dordogne and Lot et Garonne.   The area is a very interesting cross between the Dordogne tourist area and some of the best rural and agricultural areas of France.   The main product, of course, is wine but Perigordian cuisine comes a very close second.   Duck farms are plentiful and local restaurants and markets offer some of the best produce in Europe.   Couple all that with the superb climate of the region with high sunshine and daytime temperatures reaching into the upper 30°s C, (even in the middle of winter they can reach the mid 20°s C) and you have a superb location for a short break.   (Mid-day on 25th December 2004 the temperature was 25° C)

Our activity breaks are offered as a separate add-on to the gite reservation. The way this works is that you choose your activity break and then book both the break and the accommodation at the same time.   The cost for the accommodation is PER GITE and the cost for the activity is PER ACTIVITY. Any activity can be enjoyed any of the party up to a maximun of 4 people.

When arranging Activity Breaks please remember that the gite is equipped with double beds.    Also, at present, we have a SPECIAL OFFER, if you book the gite for two consecutive weekends, we will give you the days in between free of charge.

Our Activity Breaks include collection from the airport, transport to and from the activity and transport back to meet your departing flight.    These services are provided free of charge and we regret that we cannot offer any reduction for those not requiring the service.

Conversational French is a weekend course running from Thursday evening to Monday afternoon   The course can be arranged for up to 4 guests staying in our Gite.

The Course offers the following features: Free collection and return to Bergerac Airport 4 sessions of 3 hours (12 hours) personal conversational French Tuition for you and your family/friends.   The tutor is a French National who speaks fluent English Aperitifs on your first evening and an opportunity to meet your tutor and discuss your itinerary. Accompanied visits to local attractions, a museum, a vineyard, a chateaux, to practice in the real world. The option of an accompanied visit to a local restaurant. Extra sessions of personal tuition are available at nominal cost. Welcome pack of basic groceries on arrival at the gite. Pain(french bread) and croissants delivered on your first morning. Use of all Les Fontenelles facilities (barbecue, swimming pool, gardens etc.) Transport is provided.

1 to 1 tuition

Please note that this course will be individually tailored to suit your own expertise in French.
There is NO "classroom teaching during this course.   Your time will be spent with your individual tutor visiting places of interest chosen by yourselves.   You will have the opportunity to converse with local people speaking there own variety of French under the watchful and helpful eye of your tutor.

The Charge for this activity (FT1), as detailed, will be £250.00 for up to 4 people.
Extra Tuition(EFT1) can be arranged as required at £22.00 per hour.
