By Train
Gite Les Fontenelles is a short distance from the N21 (Bergerac to Villeneuve-sur-Lot) road at Plaisance, between Bouniagues and Castillonnes.
Driving distances from the various channel ports (in miles) are:
|
Boulogne | 479 miles |
|
| Caen (Ouistreham) | 363 miles | ||
| Calais | 497 miles | ||
| Cherbourg | 405 miles | ||
| Dunkirk | 524 miles | ||
| Le Havre | 384 miles | ||
| Saint Malo | 357 miles |
| DFDS Seaways offer an excellent service between Dover and Dunkerque which gets you onto the motorways fast and avoids the crowds in Calais . DFDS Seaways are our recommended channel ferry operator. | |||
|
You can also cross the channel with P & O operating the Dover to Calais route, and Brittany Ferries offer a range of crossings in the western channel. LD Lines offer services from Newhaven to Dieppe or Portsmouth to Le Havre

If you are planning to bring your car to France, please remember the stringent laws relating to safety and other equipment that must be carried with you.
There is a legal requirement to carry a warning triangle and a reflective vest. (The vest should be in the car, not in the boot)
You are also required to carry your driving license at all times you are in the car., (Both parts if a GB License)
Headlight deflectors appear "to be tolerated" although there are stories of Police insisting on lamps that dip to the right.
In addition, you must have originals of the vehicle registration document and insurance certificates (Not photo copies)
I also recommend carrying a first aid kit and carrying your passport at all times. French citizens are required to carry an ID and your passport acts as your ID.
Finally, in July 2012 it is likely that it will become compulsory to carry a breathalyser.
For further information, we recommend a downloadable pdf from the AA,
We look forward to seeing you soon but in the mean time, enjoy yourselves.
